When the Ava Awards released the 2008 winners in their international awards competition, Film & Company walked away with a Gold Award for the video Project 1.27 promo. I produced this video for the Colorado based Project 1.27, an organization focused on finding Christian adoptive parents for every child available for adoption in the Colorado foster care system (approximately 800 children in varying ages when the program started a few years ago).
The video tells the story of Project 1.27, bringing across both the vision and the need, and is a key tool for reaching both prospective adoptive parents and donors. There are actually 2 versions of the video, a long one (10:29) and a shorter one (3:15) and they are distributed on DVD and used on the web.
Back to the award. The Ava Awards are designed to recognize outstanding achievement by creative professionals in creating audio-visual materials and programs. The 2008 competition drew over 2,200 entries from the U.S., Canada and several other countries. Entrants in the contest include video and film production companies, web developers, advertising and PR agencies, corporate and government units, as well as independent producers.
Based on the feedback on the video in use, I knew this is a good video, and receiving a Gold Award just reaffirms that spending the extra time on building a good storyline is worth it in the end.
